My main research interests are image processing and image analysis using statistical models. I focus on the practical use of state-of-the-art research technology in real-world applications. These are for instance 3D face verification for data acquired in uncontrolled environments.
In 2006 I received a diploma (Dipl. Ing. FH) in applied computer science from the University of Applied Science Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW) and subsequently the master of science (M. Sc.) in computer science from the University of Basel in 2008. From 2008 to 2013 I was a PhD student in the research group of Prof. Dr. Thomas Vetter (Graphics and Vision Group) at the University of Basel and defended my PhD thesis in November 2013. In May 2014 I joined again the Graphics and Vision Group at the University of Basel as a PostDoc.
